Appalachian St. 49, Wofford 17

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Richie Williams threw for 249 yards and
one touchdown and rushed for 73 yards to lift Appalachian State
past Wofford 49-17 on Saturday.

Williams completed 19 of 26 passes to lead the Mountaineers
(5-2, 3-1 Southern Conference), who maintained at least a share of
first place in the league with the win.

Williams connected with Daniel Bettis on a 25-yard TD that put
Appalachian State ahead 21-7. The Mountaineers went up 28-10 on
Williams' 11-yard scoring run, the first of 28 unanswered second
half points.

Appalachian State had 566 yards of offense.

Wofford quarterback Josh Collier rushed for 88 yards including a
57-yard touchdown run late to lead the Terries (4-3, 2-2). He threw
for just 29 yards.

The Mountaineers' Kevin Richardson rushed for 72 yards on 17
carries and had two touchdowns. Backup quarterback Trey Elder threw
two touchdown passes and was 4-for-5 for 93 yards.
