SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) -- Barrick Nealy and Morris Brothers each
ran for a pair of first-half touchdowns as Texas State beat McNeese
State 49-7 Saturday.
Nealy's scores were from 1 and 5 yards, and Brothers found the
end zone from 26 and 5 yards as Texas State (7-2, 3-1 Southland)
built a 35-0 halftime lead.
Jolly Daniel, who led Texas State with 85 rushing yards, and
Nick Session also had a touchdown apiece. Texas State rushed for
296 yards and held McNeese State (4-3, 2-2) to 129 total yards and
eight first downs.
Nealy had 69 yards, and Brothers added 48. Nealy also completed
15 of 22 passes for 128 yards and a touchdown.
McNeese averted the shutout when Kyle Link caught a 7-yard pass
from Beau Lasseigne with 5:21 remaining in the game.
Four McNeese State quarterbacks combined to complete just five
of 23 passes for 54 yards with two interceptions.
Texas State's first four scoring drives started in McNeese State
territory, and two of those were set up by turnovers.
The margin was Texas State's biggest against McNeese State.
