AMHERST, Mass. (AP) -- Steve Baylark ran for 84 yards and scored
two touchdowns as Massachusetts extended its winning streak to five
games in season openers with a 28-7 victory over Colgate on
Liam Coen threw two scoring passes for the Minutemen, who held
Colgate's offense to 183 yards.
Massachusetts led 21-0 after three quarters before Jordan Scott
scored on a 25-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter.
Coen completed 7 of 8 passes for 60 yards and two touchdowns in
the first quarter, a 6-yard pass to Baylark and a 4-yarder to
Baylark scored again in the third quarter on a 9-yard run set up
by Brian Ellis' interception. With the score 21-7, Matt Lawrence
finished the scoring on a 2-yard touchdown run that followed his
65-yard kickoff return.
The Minutemen outgained Colgate on the ground, 179 yards to 79,
helping them to their seventh win in their last eight openers.
