Nevada 23, San Jose State 7

RENO, Nev. (AP) -- Running back Robert Hubbard rushed for 161 yards on 33 carries and scored a touchdown to lead Nevada to a 23-7 win over San Jose State on Saturday.

Nevada quarterback Travis Moore, who started in place of the injured Jeff Rowe, threw for 178 yards and a touchdown, completing 20-of-28, and rushed for another touchdown against one interception.

The Wolf Pack (4-3, 1-2 WAC) rolled up 408 yards of total offense compared with the Spartans' 239 yards. But two Nevada first-half turnovers in San Jose State territory kept the Spartans (4-2, 1-1) close.

After Nevada took a 10-7 halftime lead, Moore's keeper from the 1 gave the Pack a 17-7 lead with 13:33 left in the third quarter.

The score was set up when on San Jose State's first play from scrimmage in the second half, Nevada linebacker Jeremy Engstrom returned SJSU receiver John Broussard's fumble 43 yards to the Spartans 7. The Wolf Pack put the Spartans away with a 15-play, 88-yard drive that lasted 8:23, ending with Moore hitting Mike McCoy for a 2-yard touchdown that gave the Pack a 23-7 lead with 3:33 to play.

Nevada scored first after the Pack's Charles Wilson intercepted an Adam Tafralis pass on San Jose State's 1. One play later, Hubbard punched it in to give Nevada a 7-0 lead with 4:46 left in the first quarter.

The Pack added Brett Jaekle's 27-yard field goal with 12:03 to play in the first half, to give Nevada a 10-0 lead.

But Spartan cornerback Dwight Lowery's 38-yard interception return to Nevada's 13 set up a 13-yard pass from Tafralis to James Jones with 10 seconds before halftime, closing the deficit to 10-7.
