NORMAL, Ill. (AP) -- Levi Dyer scored 20 points and Osiris Eldridge added 18, including three free throws in the final seconds to lead Illinois State to a 67-64 overtime victory over Northern Iowa on Tuesday night.
The Redbirds (9-7, 1-4 Missouri Valley) led 59-56 after Dyer hit two free throws with 12 seconds left in regulation. But after Northern Iowa's Grant Stout missed a 3-pointer, Dyer went back to the line and missed. Brooks McKowen then made a 3-pointer for Northern Iowa with one second left to send the game into overtime.
Eldridge scored five of Illinois State's eight points in the extra session, including three straight free throws in the final seconds.
But Eldridge missed his final free throw attempt with eight seconds left, giving Northern Iowa one shot at sending the game into a second overtime. This time McKowen's 3-pointer was off the mark.
The game featured 14 ties and 21 lead changes; neither team led by more than four points.
McKowen and Eric Coleman led the Panthers (13-3, 4-1) with 12 points. Stout added eight points and eight rebounds.
