FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -- Aaron Brown scored three touchdowns and rushed for 166 yards and TCU won its sixth straight with a 45-14 victory over Colorado State on Saturday night.
Quarterback Jeff Ballard rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another. He's has accounted for nine touchdowns -- six throwing and three rushing -- in his last two games. Ballard was 17 of 25 for 238 yards against Colorado State. He didn't play in the fourth quarter with Marcus Jackson relieving him.
Brown's 45-yard touchdown sprint in the third quarter was TCU's longest run of the season. He also had touchdowns runs of 1 and 28 yards in the second quarter.
TCU (9-2, 5-2 MWC) generated 606 yards of offense -- their second straight with more than 600 -- and never punted.
The Rams (4-7, 1-6 MWC) dropped their sixth straight game, the longest losing streak in coach Sonny Lubick's 14-year tenure at CSU.
Colorado State's biggest play of the evening was a 42-yard touchdown pass from receiver Johnny Walker to fellow wideout Dustin Osborn on a trick play in the third quarter. Quarterback Caleb Hanie went out a few plays earlier after being hit on a scramble. He'd return to the game, but rotated in with Billy Farris.
Farris was CSU's leading rusher with 19 yards.
Texas Christian found itself in an unusual situation in the first quarter -- trailing. The Horned Frogs, down 7-0 early, hadn't been behind in a game in more than 19 quarters.
The deficit didn't last long as the Horned Frogs scored 31 straight points before halftime. They've outscored teams 152-13 during in the opening half in their six-game win streak.
Ballard's 54-yard touchdown pass to tight end Brent Hecht was his 11th scoring toss of the season.
Trailing 7-3 in the second quarter, the Frogs lined up for a 30-yard field goal, but the Rams jumped offsides to keep the drive alive and send TCU on its four-touchdown spree before halftime.
Ballard fumbled on the opening drive in Rams territory when he was sacked by defensive end Tommie Hill, who reached out and recovered the ball.
The Rams capitalized on the turnover when Hanie threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Kory Sperry. CSU had its first lead in a Mountain West Conference game since the third quarter against New Mexico on Oct. 28.
TCU administrators and officials let out a roar before the game when BYU quarterback John Beck threw a last-second, game-winning touchdown pass against Utah on Saturday. The Cougars win all but guaranteed the Horned Frogs a spot in the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego on Dec. 19.
