LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) -- Calvin Dawson had a pair of rushing touchdowns and Cole Wilson scored four field goals to lead Louisiana-Monroe to a 39-20 Sun Belt Conference win over Louisiana-Lafayette on Saturday.
Wilson's 41-yard field goal put the Warhawks (4-8, 3-4) up 16-14 at the 8:18 mark of the first quarter.
Louisiana-Monroe's Josh Thompson intercepted Louisiana-Lafayette's Jerry Babb in the second quarter to spur the Warhawks' ensuing 48-yard scoring drive that ended on an 18-yard rush by Calvin Dawson. That put them up 23-14.
Quarterback Kinsmon Lancaster upped the lead to 30-14 after connecting with LaGregory Sapp on a 64-yard scoring pass. The Warkhawks added three more points to build a 33-14 lead at the half.
Wilson earlier converted on field goals of 41 and 44 yards and completed Louisiana-Monroe's scoring with field goals of 20 and 25 yards in the third quarter.
Louisiana-Lafayette (6-6, 3-4) scored on two rushing touchdowns by Tyrell Fenroy and a 10-yard pass from quarterback Jerry Babb to Phillip Nevels at the 3:15 mark of the third quarter.
Dawson finished the game with 129 yards rushing, besting Fenroy's 118 yards to win the Sun Belt's rushing title by 13 yards.
Lancaster connected on 11-of-18 passes for 244 yards and no interceptions, while Babb was 22-of-42 for 189 yards and three interceptions.
