Cowboys 35, Vikings 12

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) -- No. 3 tailback Kris Bush had two of McNeese State's three rushing touchdowns and Derrick Fourroux had touchdown passes of 51 and 15 yards as the Cowboys beat Portland State 35-12 Saturday night.

Bush, who started the game behind Toddrick Pendland and Jamie Leonard, had touchdown runs of 3 and 16 yards for McNeese in the season opener for both teams.

Fourroux's long TD throw was to Immanuel Friddle and the other to Steven Whitehead. He was 11-of-23 for 191 yards.

All 12 of Portland State's points were on field goals by Chris Chalmers.

The Cowboys held Portland State to minus-10 yards rushing.

Leonard had 89 yards rushing on 11 carries, Fourroux had 64 and one touchdown, and Bush 40.
