BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (AP) -- Division III Geneva returned two fumbles for touchdowns in a 29-7 win over La Salle on Saturday night to earn its 500th victory.
Jamaur Law returned a fumble 30 yards for a score and Brian Wilson returned one 63 yards for another touchdown for Geneva (4-1), which is playing its first season in Division III after winning 496 games in 117 years as a member of the NAIA.
The Golden Tornados held La Salle, a member of the Football Championship Subdivision, to just 177 total yards and forced five turnovers while recording six sacks.
Geneva built a 17-0 halftime lead behind the fumble returns by Law and Wilson and a 28-yard field goal by Nick DiPietro.
Bobby Bondi threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Adam Chatlos in the third quarter and Matt Dean scored on a 2-yard run in the fourth as Geneva took a 29-0 lead with 6:39 left.
The Explorers (0-4) avoided the shutout when Steve Panasuk threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to John McVey with 3:48 left.
Bondi threw for just 72 yards on 8-for-19 passing and Dean picked up 72 yards on 12 carries for the Golden Tornados, who didn't need much offense after their defense tallied 14 points in the first half.
In addition to his fumble return, Wilson picked up two of Geneva's six sacks.
