NORMAL, Ill. (AP) -- Rafael Rice rushed for 182 yards to lead Illinois State to a 69-17 victory over Indiana State on Saturday.
Rice ran five yards to score a touchdown in the third period to add to ten touchdowns for Illinois State (3-4, 1-2 Gateway Football Conference). The team rushed for 438 yards and passed for 154 yards to earn 33 first downs. A missed extra point after the last touchdown kept the Redbirds from 70.
The win breaks a three-game losing streak for the Redbirds. Geno Blow and Cortes Rice both rushed for more than 100 yards.
Indiana State (0-7, 0-3 Gateway Football Conference) scored a field goal in the first minutes of the game -- the first lead of the season for the Sycamores. Indiana State went on to score a pair of touchdowns in the second period, but remained scoreless for the second half of the game.
