BALTIMORE (AP) -- Daryl Jones rushed for 167 yards and 2 touchdowns and Norfolk State kept its hopes of a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title alive as the Spartans defeated Morgan State 24-16 Saturday.
Tim Ferrell's 14-yard run with 13:55 to play gave Norfolk State (7-2, 6-1) a 24-13 lead. Morgan State's James Meade kicked a 43-yard field goal with 7:41 left, but the Bears couldn't get any closer.
Chad Simpson ran for 215 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries for Morgan State (5-5, 4-3).
Simpson opened the scoring with a 41-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Norfolk State took the lead for good 7-6 on a 3-yard touchdown run by Jones in the second quarter and the Spartans never trailed after that.
The Spartans extended their lead to 17-6 in the third quarter when kicker Justin Castellat made a 33-yard field goal and Jones scored on a 4-yard touchdown run.
