SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Jayson Foster had 279 rushing yards and three touchdowns to lead Georgia Southern a 38-35 victory over Wofford on Saturday.
With the game tied at 35, Georgia Southern (7-2, 4-2 Southern Conference) had a 45-yard kickoff return to set up the game-winning field goal with 8:58 left in the game.
The Terriers (7-3, 4-2) got inside the Eagle 20-yard line, but turned the ball over on downs.
Mike Hamilton had 14 carries for 49 yards and two touchdowns, while Raja Andrews caught four passes for 53 yards for Georgia Southern. Foster added 57 yards passing.
Wofford was led by Kevious Johnson with 137 yards on 18 carries with one touchdown. Josh Collier went 3-of-10 passes for 100 yards, while Tripp Smith led Wofford receivers with one catch for 59 yards.
On its final drive, Wofford picked up a key fourth-and-six on a Johnson run. Dane Romero added two more first down runs to get inside the Eagles' 20-yard line. But the drive ended when the Terriers failed to make fourth-and-two at the 15.
