RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) -- Mark Dunn rushed for 72 yards and three touchdowns to lead Eastern Kentucky to a 38-24 win over Tennessee Tech on Saturday.

The Colonels (8-2, 8-0 Ohio Valley Conference) captured their first outright conference title since 1997 and received the league's automatic bid to the Football Championship Series playoffs.

Eastern opened with a 1-2 record and won eight in a row to close out the regular season. The Colonels went undefeated at home (5-0) for the first time since 1995 and compiled an unbeaten record against conference foes.

Dunn and Bobby Washington combined for 108 yards rushing in the first half. Dunn also scored two touchdowns. The two running backs combined for 137 yards.

Allan Holland completed his first seven passes and was 13-for-21 for 143 yards and finished with 194 yards. In the opening half, receiver Quinton Williams caught five passes for 88 yards, including a 50-yard touchdown strike.

Eastern had 356 total yards, but managed just 91 in the second half, including 22 in the third quarter.

Tennessee Tech (4-7, 2-6) won four of its first five games before ending the season with a six-game losing streak.

Larry Shipp became the school's all-time leader in receiving yards with 2,950 yards. Shipp scored two touchdowns.

Shipp hauled in a 37-yard pass in the third quarter on fourth-and-10 that set up a 2-yard run by Barnes to make the score 28-17 with 3:44 left in the quarter
