Holy Cross 41, Brown 34

WORCESTER, Mass. -- Dominic Randolph completed a school-record 41 passes Saturday to help Holy Cross defeat Brown, 41-34, in a game in which over 100 forward passes were thrown.

Randolph produced a pair of clutch third-down conversions to put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter. He completed a nine-yard touchdown pass to Bill Edger as he drove the Crusaders 86 yards on 15 plays to give Holy Cross an insurmountable 41-34 lead with 3:13 left.

Randolph threw for four touchdowns, including two to Jon Brock, to help Holy Cross (2-3) register its first win over an Ivy league team. The Crusaders had previously suffered last minute defeats to Harvard (25-24) and Yale (31-28 in 2 OT).

Quarterback Michael Dougherty of Brown (2-2) was also was spectacular in the aerial duel, throwing for four touchdowns.

Terrance Gass and Brock scored touchdowns on the Crusaders' first two possessions for a 14-0 lead.

Dougherty, however, rallied the Bears. He completed touchdown passes of two yards to Bobby Sewall and another of 13 yards to Trevan Samp around the second Brock score, a 33 yarder from Randolph to make to 21-14.

Randolph and Dougherty exchanged touchdown passes before Matt Partain kicked a 46 yard field goal at :01 to give Holy Cross a 31-21 halftime lead.
