PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Running back Martell Mallet ran 146 yards and scored two touchdowns to help Arkansas-Pine Bluff demolish Lincoln in a 42-0 win Saturday and snap their winless season.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1-7) relied on its ground game in the win, rushing for 253 yards off of 41 carries. The first score came from a 21-yard run by Mallet with 57 seconds left in the first quarter and the Golden Lions never looked back.
Mickey Dean found the end zone in a 20-yard run in the second quarter. Kelsey Thomas recovered a goal-line fumble by the Blue Tigers for an Arkansas-Pine Bluff touchdown in the third quarter. Mallet followed that with a 1-yard touchdown.
In the fourth quarter, Kenneth Esaw scored on a 2-yard touchdown run. With less than a minute left in the game, James Harrell caught an interception and raced 91 yards back down the field for a final Golden Lions touchdown.
Quarterback Jonathan Moore completed eight of his 19 passes for 114 yards in the win. Quarterback Gvona Turner, who also took snaps for Arkansas-Pine Bluff, completed four of his seven passes for 59 yards.
Blue Tigers quarterback Allen McClain completed six of his 20 passes for 82 yards and one interception. Lincoln quarterback Rashad Aubrey completed four of his 10 passes for 18 yards and one interception.
Lincoln rushed for 99 yards off of 29 carries in the loss.
