CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- Justin Kraemer missed a 32-yard field goal attempt on the last play of the game, preserving Austin Peay's 31-28 victory over Tennessee Tech on Saturday night.

The Golden Eagles (1-7, 1-4 Ohio Valley Conference) withstood Tennessee Tech's late rally for its first victory of the season.

Tennessee Tech (3-6, 1-4) trailed 31-14 before Cedric Wilkinson's 1-yard touchdown run with 3:13 remaining in the game, and Lee Sweeney's 20-yard scoring pass to Tim Benford cut the lead to 31-28 with 1:33 remaining.

Tennessee Tech recovered an onside kick and moved to Austin Peay's 15-yard line before Kraemer's miss.

Trent Caffee was 14 of 20 for 217 yards and four touchdowns for Austin Peay, connecting with Darryl Miller three times for 110 yards and three touchdowns.

Ryan White rushed for 185 yards on 22 carries for the Governors.

Sweeney finished 25 of 42 for 324 yards and three touchdowns, hitting Benford 10 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns.

Henry Sailes had four catches for 101 yards and a score, and rushed for 76 carries on five carries.
