NORFOLK, Va. -- Trevor Scott kicked a 26-yard field goal with 4 seconds left to lift Florida A&M to a 31-28 victory over Norfolk State on Saturday.
Curtis Pulley completed 13 of 27 passes for 252 yards with three touchdowns and rushed for 101 yards on 13 carries for the Rattlers (6-2, 2-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Philip Sylvester added 105 rushing yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
Dennis Brown completed 22 of 37 passes for 192 yards with one touchdown and one interception, adding 131 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 carries for the Spartans (2-6, 1-4).
Florida A&M, which outgained Norfolk State 464-371, overcame five turnovers for the win.
Brown scored first for the Spartans on a 1-yard run with 3:20 remaining in the opening quarter. DeAngelo Branch also scored from 1 yard away less than three minutes later to give Norfolk State a 14-0 lead.
The Rattlers controlled the second quarter as Pulley hit Kevin Elliott, who finished the day with 11 yards and two touchdowns on seven catches, on scores of 16 and 25 yards to tie the game at 14-14 going into the half.
Sylvester ran 44 yards for a Rattlers score midway through the third, and Takeen Hedgeman ran it in from 1 yard out as the Spartans once again evened the score going into the final quarter.
But, after Pulley hit Isaac West on a 60-yard score and Brown's 37-yard pass to Dario Walker evened things at 28-28 with 35 seconds to go, the Rattlers drove 67 yards in 31 seconds to set up Scott's game-winner.
