BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Chris Evans ran for 174 yards and two touchdowns to lead Samford to a 28-10 victory over The Citadel on Saturday.
But Samford (4-3, 2-2) answered with three touchdowns. Harris Johnson caught a 10-yard touchdown from Dustin Taliaferro, who also added a 1-yard rushing score in the second. Evans scored on a 9-yard run in the third.
Taliaferro, who completed 12 of 18 passes, threw for 117 yards for Samford. The Citadel was held to 27 yards rushing and gave up six sacks -- three of which came from Samford's Patrick Hatcher, who also had five tackles for losses.
Bart Blanchard was 13 of 15 for 143 yards passing for The Citadel. Turner passed for 104 yards.
