Stony Brook 68, Iona 9

NEW ROCHHELLE, N.Y. -- Edwin Gowins and Conte Cuttino each ran for more than 200 yards, and Stony Brook racked up 635 yards on the ground in a 68-9 victory against Iona on Saturday.

Cuttino ran for 205 yards on 17 carries and scored three touchdowns, including a 71-yarder in the second quarter that made it 27-0.

Gowins had 278 yards on 19 carries and also scored three touchdowns, including a 29-yarder late in the second quarter and a 62-yarder early in the third.

Stony Brook (4-6) averaged over 10 yards on its 63 rushing attempts and attempted only seven passes. The Seawolves completed three for 33 yards.

The Football Championship Subdivision for rushing yards in a game is 681 by Missouri State against Southern Missouri in 1988.

Warren Smith completed a 74-yard touchdown pass to Tim Mastrino in the third quarter for the only Iona (3-7) touchdown.
