Lehigh 28, Drake 14

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Jay Campbell rushed for three touchdowns and Chris Lum passed for 288 yards to lead Lehigh to a 28-14 season-opening win at Drake on Saturday night.

Campbell, who rushed for 93 yards on 22 carries, scored two touchdowns in the first quarter and added a 28-yard TD run with 4:10 remaining in the game.

Drake closed to within a touchdown, 21-14, on a 12-yard TD pass from Mik Piatkowski to Drew Blackmon with 7:44 to play. Blackmon led all Bulldog receivers with five catches for 40 yards.

Lum completed 23 of 36 passes with one touchdown.

It was the first game that involved a plane trip for Lehigh, which is in Bethlehem, Pa., since a Division I-AA playoff contest against Furman in Greenville, S.C., in 2001. The Mountain Hawks last flew to a regular-season game in 2000, when they played at Wofford (Spartanburg, S.C.).
