RICHMOND, Va. -- Kendall Gaskins had a 2-yard touchdown run to cap Richmond's 12-point fourth quarter in a 15-6 win over Rhode Island on Saturday.
The Spiders (6-4, 4-3 Colonial Athletic Association) trailed 6-3 at halftime before Jon Laub threw a 77-yard pass to Donte Boston with 6:48 remaining in the game. The Rams (4-6, 3-4) couldn't get anything going with a penalty and a sack on the ensuing drive.
Richmond then marched 80 yards on six plays, capped by Gaskins' run with 1:19 left.
The Spiders managed just 274 yards of offense compared to 388 by Rhode Island, but forced seven turnovers.
Rhode Island lost the ball on three fumbles and four interceptions, one which led to the first score of the game on Wil Kamin's 29-yard field goal for the Spiders.
Patrick Weldon had 18 tackles and two interceptions for Richmond.
