JONESBORO, Ark. -- Brian Davis set two Sun Belt Conference kicking records Saturday with six field goals and 23 points, leading Arkansas State past Central Arkansas 53-24.
The Red Wolves (2-2) dominated Central Arkansas, an FCS program, in the teams' first meeting since 1997. They rolled up 646 yards of total offense and scored on nine of their 11 possessions, with Davis hitting field goals of 24, 32, 33, 34, 21 and 33 yards. Ryan Aplin threw for 220 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown to Taylor Stockemer, and added 84 yards on the ground.
Davis was one field goal short of tying the NCAA record.
