PINE BLUFF, Ark. -- Southern scored a touchdown with no time remaining, but Jarvis Webb blocked the extra-point attempt to give Arkansas-Pine Bluff a 22-21 victory on Saturday night.
Webb, a 6-foot defensive back, deflected Matthew Hill's PAT kick, denying Southern an overtime chance after Joseph Dray hit Slyvester Nzekwe with an 11-yard TD pass.
Stephen Jones had a 25-yard TD run with 1:30 remaining, and the Golden Lions (4-3, 3-2 Southwestern Athletic) added a two-point conversion for a 22-15 lead. The Jaguars (2-5, 2-3) raced 76 yards in seven plays to what it hoped would be the tying score.
But Webb got in the way.
Hill missed a PAT try and 33-yard field goal attempt in the first half.
