MOREHEAD, Ky. -- University of Pikeville's Seth Millar rushed for a 23-yard touchdown with less than three minutes remaining and the Bears rallied to beat Morehead State 13-10 in the season opener for both teams.
Millar's touchdown capped an eight-play, 72-yard drive with 2:48 remaining for Pikeville, which won just three games last season. Ryan Wilson's extra point attempt was blocked, but the Bears held on to spoil longtime Morehead State assistant Rob Tenyer's debut as a head coach.
Millar, who averaged 8.2 yards a carry, led the Bears with 106 yards and a touchdown. Marquis Terrell ran for 97 yards rushing and a touchdown for the game's first score after a scoreless first half.
Morehead State's Logan Johnson completed 33 of 53 passes for 271 yards with two interceptions. Johnson led the Eagles with 57 yards rushing. The Eagles were held to 107 rushing yards.
