MURRAY, Ky. -- Walter Powell amassed 310 all-purpose yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Murray State to a 35-24 Ohio Valley Conference win over Tennessee Tech Saturday.
Powell caught 8 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns and returned a punt 88 yards for a touchdown. Maikhail Miller, who threw for 306 yards, found Powell with a 55-yard scoring pass in the second quarter and added one from 59 yards in the third.
Powell, a senior, now has 30 touchdowns in his career at Murray State.
Murray State (4-2, 2-0) was ahead 21-0 before Tennessee Tech (3-3, 0-2) got on the board when Jared Davis scored on a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Davis finished with 207 yards on 26-of-42 passing.
The Racers are 2-0 in Ohio Valley Conference action for the first time since 1998.
