Hampton edges N. Carolina A&T 31-26 for first win

HAMPTON, Va. -- Bryan Bailey threw three touchdown passes and Hampton halted a North Carolina A&T rally to win its first game of the season 31-26 Saturday.

Hampton (1-5, 1-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) ended the Aggies' (3-2, 1-2) chances by forcing a turnover on downs on the final possession to preserve the win.

Anthony Prevost's 31-yard field goal gave Hampton a 31-26 lead with just over two minutes left in the game.

The Pirates trailed 12-7 in the second quarter before Aaron Matthews returned an interception 19 yards for a touchdown and Bailey added a pair of touchdown passes to give the Pirates a 28-12 halftime lead.

North Carolina A&T responded with an 81-yard pass from Lewis Kindle to Tarik Cohen in the third quarter and a 24-yard interception return for a touchdown cut the deficit to 28-26 before Prevost's field goal extended the lead.

Cohen led the Aggies with 180 yards rushing.
