Utah beat Michigan 24-17 in Jim Harbaugh’s coaching debut; 6th straight win vs. a nonconference opponent at home for Utah

You just can't catch this Wildcat

Arizona QB Anu Solomon did a great job avoiding would-be tacklers, even shedding one wrapped around his leg, to find Johnny Jackson for a 21-yard touchdown.

Meyer: QBs will learn who's starting

Ohio State coach Urban Meyer won't tell the rest of the world who his starting QB will be for Monday night's season opener, but Cardale Jones and J.T. Barrett will find out Saturday, he said on 97.1 The Fan: "I told them who was ahead. It's so close that both [should] be ready."

Harbaugh's less-than-stellar debuts

Jim Harbaugh has lost in each of his first games with a new college team. Interestingly, his teams have each scored 17 points in those debuts.

Final: (2) TCU 23, Minnesota 17

The Horned Frogs will have things to work on for next week, as the offense struggled at times. But the defense bent without breaking, and TCU escaped with a season-opening win. Box score

Final: (22) Arizona 42, UTSA 32

Preseason All-American LB Scooby Wright left the game with an apparent knee injury for the Wildcats, who held off a game Roadrunners squad for a season-opening win. Arizona QB Anu Solomon threw 4 TDs with 0 INTs.

TCU QB Trevone Boykin: "No game is going to be easy. We're the No. 2 team in the country and we're going to get everybody's best swing. We have to counterpunch."

Duke coach David Cutcliffe has to be happy with what he saw out of his young Blue Devils in a 37-7 road win over Tulane. There was balance on offense, good leadership from new starter Thomas Sirk and solid play up front -- an area that has been cause for concern. Plus, DeVon Edwards had another kickoff return for TD. Solid 2015 debut for Duke.

jim Harbaugh loses in Michigan debut

Utah beats Michigan 24-17 to spoil Jim Harbaugh's Wolverines coaching debut.

Hawaii starts with big block, gets win

The Rainbow Warriors batted the Buffaloes' first punt of the game out of the air and were able to grab a win against Colorado, beating them 28-20. Box score

TCU coach Gary Patterson says, "We wanted to get one under the belt." Expected tough game at Minnesota and got it. He's proud of his young defense, which included a pair of freshmen at LB.

Arizona's big block helps keep lead secure

Daniel Portillo had a 44-yard FG attempt to pull UTSA within 6, but DaVonte' Neal got his mitts on the kick, and Jonathan Haden recovered for Arizona. The Wildcats lead 35-26 in the fourth.

Openers are tricky and Trevone Boykin will be better but opponents will study Minnesota's blueprint against TCU offense. If you have veteran, physical defensive backs, tackle in space, and make TCU earn everything, you can hang around. Really good job by Tracy Claeys and the Minnesota defensive staff. Gophers will definitely contend in the Big Ten west. They were my pick to win it.

Minnesota strikes late, within a TD

No. 2 TCU has managed just 23 points tonight, which has allowed the Golden Gophers to hang around. An 8-play, 91-yard scoring drive has the score at 23-17, but Minnesota is running out of time, with just over 90 seconds left in regulation. Watch live on ESPN/WatchESPN

Jim Harbaugh's message to his team following the 24-17 loss to Utah was pretty simple. He congratulated his players for fighting hard, saw a ton of things the Wolverines can improve on and that one loss won't define them.

Ohio runs all over the Vandals

A 21-point first quarter put Ohio up early, and Kylan Nelson sealed things with a late TD run in a 45-28 win over Idaho.
