UNC tailback Elijah Hood had 138 yards on 12 carries but didn't get a touch in the red zone while QB Marquise Williams tossed 3 INTs deep in South Carolina territory. Gamecocks win 17-13.

Very impressive drive by Utah. Love the patience Booker shows. Michigan had outplayed Utes until now. How do Wolverines respond?

Utah jumps back ahead of Michigan

The Utes responded to the Wolverines' field goal by marching down the field with an 11-play drive, capped by Devontae Booker's 1-yard TD run, to take a 10-3 lead with 10:33 left in the first half. Follow live

WKU Football @WKUFootball

The 49-yarder is good for Vanderbilt for the first points of the game. WKU will have 1:42 remaining in the half to answer.

Can TCU maintain last season's pace?

TCU set single-season school records for points (604), TDs (77), and total offense (6,929) under first-year co-OCs Doug Meacham and Sonny Cumbie in 2014. TCU averaged 23.7 seconds per play (32nd in FBS), nearly five seconds faster than 2012 and 2013. The game is now live on ESPN. Watch

Final: South Carolina 17, UNC 13

Connor Mitch didn't have the greatest game, going just 9-for-22, but UNC QB Marquise Williams' 3 INTs helped South Carolina start the college football season off right. Box score

Michigan gets first points of Harbaugh era

Kenny Allen kicked a 30-yard field goal just after the second quarter began, as Michigan tied Utah 3-3. Those are the first points scored in Jim Harbaugh's first game for the Wolverines. Follow live

With Jake Rudock getting the start for Michigan, that means seven teams, including six Top 25 teams, could end up starting QBs this season who were playing elsewhere within the last two years. The wild card is Alabama, but Jake Coker is the expected starter for the Tide. He was with FSU two years ago. Rudock, who threw an interception on his first series, is a graduate transfer from Iowa. The others are Vernon Adams at Oregon (Eastern Washington), Everett Golson at FSU (Notre Dame), Chad Kelly at Ole Miss (Clemson), Greyson Lambert at Georgia (Virginia) and Baker Mayfield at Oklahoma (Texas Tech).

What a night for new South Carolina DC Jon Hoke. Unit gets two interceptions in end zone. UNC leaving a ton of points on the field but promising start for Gamecocks. Hoke hire overlooked with all the SEC D-coordinator changes but paying off. Expected a lot more consistency from Marquise Williams.

ESPN Stats & Info @ESPNStatsInfo

Marquise Williams (UNC): 3 interceptions inside opponent's 25-yard line (0 such interceptions in 87 career passes entering game)

Cooper Rush's name is too appropriate

The Central Michigan QB has 166 yards through the air on 18-27 passing, but his first TD of the night came courtesy of his feet. Oklahoma State leads CMU 17-13 in the 3rd quarter.

Watch: No. 2 TCU vs. Minnesota

TCU is the highest-ranked team in action tonight. All eyes will be on Heisman hopeful Trevone Boykin, last season's Big 12 offensive player of the year. Minnesota, meanwhile, hasn't faced an AP Top-2 opponent since 2006 -- a 44-0 loss at No. 1 Ohio St. The game starts on ESPNews pending the competing of UNC/South Carolina. Watch live

Rudock's pick ends promising drive

Jake Rudock started 3-for-4 for 34 yards, but his fifth pass ended up in the hands of Utah's Cory Butler-Byrd. Last year Michigan had a minus-16 turnover margin, tied for the fourth worst in FBS. Follow live

UNC defense comes up big

South Carolina went to Perry Orth on fourth down rather than settle for a field goal to go up by 7, and the Tar Heels stuffed the run.

#UNC D has been exposed at times, but it’s been on the field A TON. Last 2 plays showed a physicality that Chizik emphasized all offseason.

Longest touchdown of season ... so far

Al Cobb completed an 80-yard TD pass to Dontae Mauck for VMI, which trails Ball State 20-10.

Play0:50

UConn forgets to cover someone

Matt Gudzak is only 5-foot-9, so it's easy to see how the UConn defense could lose track of the Villanova RB. Still, it's amazing how open he got on this TD to give the FCS Wildcats a lead over the Huskies.

Michigan holds Utah to field goal

The first defensive drive of the Jim Harbaugh era ended with the Wolverines giving up 3 points to Utah. Utes QB Travis Wilson went 4-for-4 for 45 yards on the drive and added 17 yards on the ground. Follow live

Hey UNC, here's Carson!

Maybe South Carolina should've given Shon Carson the ball earlier. He took his first carry of the game to the house for a 48-yard TD, giving the Gamecocks a 17-13 lead over UNC on ESPN.

Play0:21

David Hale @DavidHaleESPN

It seemed like a matter of time before South Carolina found some room vs. UNC’s D. A 48-yard rush TD by Carson will do it. 17-13 Gamecocks.

Georgia Tech takes 41-0 lead

After Patrick Skov's second rushing TD of the day, Georgia Tech has scored five times on the ground and leads FCS Alcorn State 41-0. If neither team scored the rest of the way, the game would be a push; Georgia Tech was favored by exactly 41.

Weird score in UConn-Villanova

You don't see many 6-2 football games, but that's the score right now between UConn and Villanova, after a blocked PAT and then this holding penalty in the end zone led to a safety.

Play0:57

The Jim Harbaugh era has begun

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh leads his team onto the field for tonight's game against Utah.

The Utah fans are sporting their own catchy shirts that read "Sack Lake City." The Utes led the country last season with 55 sacks, and getting to the quarterback has been a staple under Kyle Whittingham. It will be worth watching tonight what kind of problems the Utes can cause the Wolverines up front.
