A spokesman for the Pullman Police Dept. tells ESPN.com they are investigating a "handful" of Washington State football players (anywhere between 5-12) for an alleged assault at a party that happened over the weekend and left one student hospitalized. Cmdr. Chris Tennant said it's a "complex" investigation when dealing with a party setting, alcohol and a lot of people. "Just because they were there doesn't mean they are guilty of something ... To make a criminal charge, we have to prove that an individual took an individual act and that individual act was criminal. And you have to prove that beyond a reasonable doubt." WSU Athletic Director Bill Moos said in a statement the school is aware and they are cooperating with local police.
