Oregon coach Mark Helfrich spoke with the media today, discussing the decision to make Vernon Adams the starter for game one. What has he done well? "Just being efficient with the ball," Helfrich said. "Throwing the ball and making good decisions a little bit better than everybody else." The Ducks No. 2 guy is Jeff Lockie and No. 3 is Taylor Alie.

A week before the season opener, Florida State still doesn't have a starting quarterback, a stark contrast to the last several years with the likes of Christian Ponder, E.J. Manuel and Jameis Winston. Coach Jimbo Fisher said he will name a starter when he is ready, and that might be after the Week 1 game against Texas State. Everett Golson and Sean Maguire are still competing.
