These were the heartfelt opening comments of Nebraska coach Mike Riley to the media here in Lincoln tonight as he mourned Sam Foltz with the Nebraska football team: ""We are in one of those moments that you never, ever just want to think about having to go through. The whole state of Nebraska and the university and, of course, all the student-athletes and our team and our staff, everybody feels this way. You talk about broken-hearted, it's all there, all the parts, and this day will be stuck in time forever -- the news that you just can't connect or comprehend or understand."

Visitors were silently paying tribute to Sam Foltz outside Memorial Stadium Sunday night as Nebraska coach Mike Riley finished a brief session with the media.

Mike Riley said QB Tommy Armstrong Jr. addressed the team in its meeting tonight. The coach said he "just wanted to see (the players) and let them know that everybody understands their grief."

Nebraska coach Mike Riley will momentarily address the death of Sam Foltz inside the north entrance to Memorial Stadium, steps from the statue that memorializes fallen former Nebraska quarterback Brook Berringer, who died in a plane crash 20 years ago this April. Flowers have been placed at the foot of the statue to honor Foltz.
