Richt, fired on Sunday by Georgia, interviewed today for Miami's vacant head-coaching job. Miami is Richt's alma mater. Current Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen, former Rutgers and Bucs coach Greg Schiano, and former Miami and North Carolina coach Butch Davis have all interviewed as well. Some of the CFP committee members will remain at their meeting HQ in Grapevine, Texas following tonight's ranking because they will meet again Friday afternoon and watch the MAC title game together. They will meet again Saturday a.m., break to watch the games, and meet again Sat night after the last game ends. They will meet again Sunday morning -- Selection Day.

Finebaum: 'Iowa has no chance'

Danny Kanell is picking the Hawkeyes to win the Big Ten over Michigan State, but Paul Finebaum thinks otherwise: "[The Hawkeyes] have a nice team, but they're running up against the big boys Saturday."


Kirk Ferentz: This is 'a special group'

The Iowa coach sat down with Jeannine Edwards to discuss his team's undefeated season and if it bothers him Iowa isn't being embraced as an underdog. Said Ferentz: "We're 12-0. So it's hard to put a damper on that one."

Dabo Swinney named ACC coach of the year

Swinney led Clemson to a perfect 12-0 regular season, and the Tigers will face North Carolina in Saturday's ACC title game. "It's really special," Swinney said of the perfect regular season. "I think everybody should take time to embrace that from a Clemson standpoint."

How does UNC make the Playoff?

Trevor Matich says if 1-loss North Carolina beats 12-0 Clemson in the ACC title game, UNC should replace the Tigers in the CFP. Heather Dinich disagrees: "It's certainly not that simple."

W. Michigan-MTSU to meet in Bahamas Bowl

The first of the 41 bowl matchups this postseason is set, as a source told ESPN's Brett McMurphy that Western Michigan (7-5) will face Middle Tennessee State (7-5) in the Bahamas Bowl on Dec. 24. Middle Tennessee accepted its bowl bid Saturday, and Western Michigan will get the official invite later this week.
