Pittsburgh holds off Virginia 26-19

Nate Peterman threw for 222 yards and two scores, Qadree Ollison added one on the ground and Pittsburgh held off Virginia 26-19 on Saturday.

Pitt's defense came up with a big fourth-down stop on Virginia's final drive, improving to 2-0 in ACC play with a 26-19 win. The Panthers' defense continues to look much better in Year 1 of the Pat Narduzzi era.

Final: Pitt prevails over Virginia

The Panthers held off the Cavaliers' late comeback and won 26-19. Pitt QB Nate Peterman led the offense with two TDs and 222 yards through the air. This was the 700th victory in Pittsburgh football history.


Don't count the Cavaliers out

Virginia QB Matt Johns threw a 32-yard TD pass to Canaan Severin to draw within a touchdown of Pitt late in the fourth quarter.


Better safe than sorry

UVA QB Matt Johns is sacked in the end zone by Pitt's Mike Caprara. The Panthers get two points, the ball and now lead 26-13 in the fourth quarter.


Panthers flip the field

UVA QB Matt Johns' pass was intercepted by Matt Galambos and returned for 51 yards to the Virginia 20-yard line. Pitt scored a touchdown off the turnover and now leads 24-10.

Virginia is hanging around at Pitt, trailing just 17-10 at halftime despite being outgained 257-133. UVA needs to get more going through the air.


UVA notches a defensive score

Pitt QB Nate Peterman is sacked by Mike Moore and fumbles the ball right into the arms of Virginia's Kwontie Moore. The defensive end took the ball straight into the end zone, drawing the Cavaliers within a touchdown.


Panthers pound it in

Pitt RB Qadree Ollison runs 4 yards for a touchdown. Pittsburgh leads Virginia 14-3 in the first quarter.
