Houston coach Tom Herman said DC Todd Orlando stuck with one defensive play call for the majority of the day against Navy. The Cougars held the Midshipmen to 147 rushing yards, less than half their season average.


Ward leads Houston to win over Navy

Greg Ward Jr. threw for 308 yards and three touchdowns to lead Houston to a 52-31 win over Navy on Friday and earn the Cougars a spot in the first American Athletic Conference championship game.

Houston emphatically rolls by No. 15 Navy

Despite a great individual effort by Navy QB Keenan Reynolds that saw him tie the career college football TD record, Houston's team effort squashed the Midshipmen 52-31, capped by this 2-yard TD run by Brandon Wilson.

Navy QB Keenan Reynolds just tied Montee Ball for the most total touchdowns in NCAA history with 83. He also now ties Ball for the most points scored by a non-kicker with 500 career points. Midshipmen trailing Houston 45-31 with 6:46 remaining.


Ward's disappearing act results in TD

Greg Ward Jr. appeared to be swallowed up in the pocket by Navy's defenders, but the Houston QB managed to escape untouched -- and wound up in the end zone.
