Raiders reach fourth straight Big 12 semifinals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Jia Perkins scored 17 points as Texas Tech (No. 12 ESPN/USA Today, No. 11 AP) beat Texas (No. 23 ESPN/USA Today) 71-58 Wednesday night in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Conference tournament.

Jia Perkins came off the Texas Tech bench to score a team-high 18 points.

Texas Tech (23-5) advanced to the semifinals for the fourth straight year. The Lady Raiders will play Iowa State, which beat Baylor on Thursday.

Planette Pierson added 15 points for Texas Tech. Katrisa O'Neil and Natalie Ritchie each had 10.

Kaira White led Texas with 20 points. Tracy Cook scored 13 and Stacey Stephens 10.

The Raiders used an 8-0 run with 7:57 left to overcome a seven-point deficit and held Texas (20-12) to one field goal in the final eight minutes.

Kaira White ignited the 8-0 run with two 3-pointers as Texas took a 52-45 lead with 10:36 remaining. But Texas Tech outscored the Longhorns 15-4 in the final six minutes.
