Dayton's day could be coming

Last March before the NCAA Tournament, I had a little fun writing about Orville and Wilbur Wright, as one of the women's regionals was in their hometown of Dayton.

But I thought then, and had over the years, that it was odd that the Dayton Flyers had never made an NCAA Tournament appearance in women's basketball.

Consider that the Flyers were the AIAW Division II national champions in 1980. There were NCAA regionals held in Dayton in 1998 and 2003, too, so the school had shown interest in the game by bidding for those. And there is lots of high school girls' basketball talent in the state of Ohio.
