Rutgers' D will miss McCurdy

February, 22, 2008
The good news, such as can be parsed in the wake of yet another knee injury to one of its players, is Rutgers reached last season's championship game of the NCAA Tournament with what at times amounted to a one-person bench rotation.

The bad news is that person was Myia McCurdy.

Excluding an opening-round laugher against East Carolina, Rutgers used its reserves for an average of 39 of a possible 200 minutes in its five subsequent postseason games. Considering that left the five starters averaging 32.2 minutes, that's not much. But McCurdy averaged 16.8 minutes in those final five games, accounting for 43 percent of the total bench minutes.
