Cynthia Cooper-Dyke hired

HOUSTON -- Cynthia Cooper-Dyke is the new women's basketball coach at Texas Southern.

The school said she will be formally introduced on Friday.

The 49-year-old Cooper-Dyke has been a college coach since her playing career ended in 2003. As a player, she helped Southern Cal win back-to-back NCAA championships in 1983 and '84, then led the United States to the gold medal at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul.
