Overview  The regular-season champion Utes hadn't dropped a league game all season until getting upset by BYU 57-50 in the Mountain West semifinals. Still, a 26-3 mark paved the way into the NCAA Tournament. Utah coach Elaine Elliott got her team to play some serious defense this year, and althought the Utes only score 67 points a game, they give up just 49. Opponents made only one-third of their shots against Utah and the Utes had a plus-5 rebounding advantage. Forward Lauren Beckman leads the charge with help from Kristina Andersen and point guard Amy Ewert.Player to WatchLauren Beckman leads the Utes in both scoring (12.3 average) and rebounding (7.6) while shooting a team-high 49.8 percent from the field. The Utes' 11-0 start this season was the second best since 1997-98, when the Utes opened their schedule with a 16-game win streak.
