Crusaders make fourth consecutive trip to NCAAs



WORCESTER, Mass. -- Monika Rothemich scored 21 points as Holy Cross beat Lehigh 94-68 Thursday night in the championship game of the Patriot League tournament.

Holy Cross (21-8) earned a bid to the NCAA tournament for the fourth consecutive year.

Cat Nicholson led Lehigh (16-14) with 17 points.

Amanda Abraham scored 16 and Jeanette Paukert and Elisa Zawadzkas each had 14 for Holy Cross, which shot 58 percent from the field.

Holy Cross took control with a 15-2 run in the first 5:15. Lehigh pulled to 27-18 with eight minutes left in the first half, but Rothemich had 10 points and Katie O'Keefe added four as the Crusaders went on a 15-4 run and built a 48-28 halftime lead.

Rothemich shot 5-for-6 from the field and 6-for-6 from the line in the half.

Lehigh closed to 20 points only twice in the second half. Nicholson hit a 3-pointer to make it 55-38 with 15:07 left, but Abraham countered with a pair of field goals to break the game open.

Carli Tolliver's 3-pointer made it 71-52 with 8:45 remaining, but Holy Cross went on a 12-6 run and held an 83-58 lead with 5:15 left.
