Release allows forward to seek transfer

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida forward Bernice Mosby will not
return to the Gators next season after the school granted the
junior a release from her scholarship Wednesday that will allow her
to transfer.

"This has been the hardest decision I've ever had to make as a
coach," Gators coach Carolyn Peck said. "This decision is in the
best interest for our basketball program and for Bernice. I wish
her the best of luck in the future."

The team's leading scorer and rebounder last season, the
6-foot-1 Mosby was benched against Georgia on Feb. 24 for violating
team rules then sat out the final three games of the season for
what Peck described as "personal matters."

All four games were Florida losses.

A second team All-SEC selection, Mosby concludes her Florida
career as the No. 17 scorer in school history with 1,124 points.
Mosby averaged 15.5 points and 8.6 rebounds last season.

Mosby, a Florida native, was voted the SEC Sixth Woman of the
Year last season and was also on the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2003.
