Turner Thorne recovering in hospital after having appendix removed

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State women's basketball coach
Charli Turner Thorne was resting comfortably in a hospital Monday,
a day after having her appendix removed.

Turner Thorne felt ill on Sunday, and went to the hospital,
where they removed her appendix, according to school spokesman
Steve Rodriguez. He said Turner Thorne hopes to be back for the
12th-ranked Sun Devils exhibition game against the U.S. national
team Thursday night.

Arizona State opens the season Sunday at North Carolina in the
Tip-Off Classic. The Sun Devils are coming off their most
successful season in school history, winning 31 games and reaching
the regional finals before losing to Rutgers.

Turner Thorne is 203-134 in 11 seasons at Arizona State.
