Connecticut and North Carolina meet Monday (ESPN2, 7 p.m. ET) in the 40th matchup between the No. 1 and 2 teams in The Associated Press Top 25. The No. 1 teams have won 22 of the 40 contests but have lost four of the last five.
Second-ranked North Carolina is no stranger to these marquee matchups. The Big Monday meeting marks the fourth consecutive 1-2 battle involving the Tar Heels and is the third straight played in Chapel Hill.
UConn is 8-2 in 1-2 matchups (according to the AP rankings), but the Huskies are 3-0 in such games played on the road and 5-2 when they are the top-ranked team. Only Tennessee (20) and Louisiana Tech (11) have played in more 1-2 showdowns. North Carolina has won two of its previous three 1-2 matchups, all of which were against Duke.
The Tar Heels have won 31 consecutive games on their home court, second only to UConn for the longest active home-court streak in the nation. The Huskies beat Syracuse on Saturday for their 33rd straight home victory.
