Owls coach Staley gets 100th career victory

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Candice Dupree scored 24 points and Ari Moore made two late free throws to lead No. 16 Temple into the final of the Atlantic 10 tournament with a 64-61 win over Xavier on Sunday.

Moore and Kamesha Hairston each had 13 points for the Owls, who extended their winning streak to 23 games and gave coach Dawn Staley her 100th career win.

The Owls (26-3) will play either Richmond or George Washington in Monday night's final. Should the Owls win Monday, they would be the first Atlantic 10 team to repeat as tournament champions since Xavier in 2000-01.

Adeola Olanrewjau led Xavier (20-9) with 17 points and Tara Boothe had 15.

Temple lost its 34-28 halftime lead when Xavier went on a 8-1 run to start the second half, and the Musketeers led 52-48 with 8:26 left after Boothe's layup.

The Owls retook the lead for good at 58-55 on a 3-pointer by Jennifer Owens with 4:20 left. Xavier drew within one point three times in the final four minutes, but two layups from Dupree and two free throws by Moore with 21.1 seconds left kept Temple ahead.

Xavier's Michele Miller missed a 3-point attempt in the closing seconds.
