Robertson free throws enough for Lady Raiders

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Alesha Robertson made two free throws
with 2.7 seconds left and Iowa State's last-second shot rimmed out
to lift No. 14 Texas Tech to a 61-59 win Wednesday in the
quarterfinals of the Big 12 tournament.

Robertson and Chelsey Dabbs each had 13 points to lead the Lady
Raiders (22-6), who face No. 6 Baylor in Thursday's semifinal. Erin
Grant added 12 points and nine assists and Cisti Greenwalt had 12
points and nine rebounds.

Tied at 59 with under five seconds to go, Grant drove the lane
but was fouled. After inbounding the ball to the post, Robertson
was immediately fouled while attempting a shot and sank both free
throws for the winning margin.

Anne O'Neil, who had 22 points to lead Iowa State (23-6),
caught a fullcourt inbounds pass and attempted a 15-footer as the
buzzer sounded. But unlike Tuesday's 64-62 win over Colorado, when
the Cyclones' Lyndsey Medders hit a game-winning 3-pointer,
O'Neil's shot spun off the rim.

Lisa Kriener added 16 points for Iowa State (No. 19 ESPN/USA Today; No. 18 AP) and Katie Robinette
scored 10.

Iowa State wrestled the lead from Texas Tech midway through the
first half, then slowly added to it. After an O'Neil 3-pointer and
Brittany Wilkins' basket in the post, the Cyclones led 35-26 with
2:41 to go in the half.

The Lady Raiders got within 36-30 by the intermission and used a
10-2 run early in the second half to take a 47-45 lead. The teams
swapped the lead four times before Texas Tech took a 59-53
advantage on Judith Smith's 3-pointer.

O'Neil answered with a driving lay-up and converted a free throw
to get within 59-57. After Smith threw it away at Texas Tech's end,
O'Neil made two free throws to knot it at 59 with 36 seconds left.
