No. 22 Vanderbilt cruises past Charleston Southern

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Caroline Williams scored a
career-high 23 points as No. 22 Vanderbilt raced to a big lead
en route to an 83-39 victory over Charleston Southern in the
Vanderbilt Tournament.

The Commodores will face either McNeese State or Colgate in the
championship on Saturday.

Williams made five of her seven 3-pointers in the opening half
as Vanderbilt (4-1) built a 41-16 cushion at the break. Her
previous high for points was 21 in a victory over Alabama A&M on

Carla Thomas added 18 points and Liz Sherwood 14 for the
Commodores, who shot 51 percent (29-of-57) and held a 37-24
rebounding advantage.

Shaunte Small scored 11 points and Eric McCoy 10 for Charleston
Southern (1-2), which committed 26 turnovers.
