Early lead helps Vandy ease past Miami (Ohio)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Caroline Williams scored all 22 of her
points in the first half to lead Vanderbilt (No. 20 ESPN/USA Today, No. 21 AP) past Miami (Ohio) 82-50 on Saturday.

Vanderbilt (8-2) opened the game with a 13-1 run, capped by
Williams' 3-pointer with 15:52 left in the half. Williams finished
with a pair of 3-pointers to give Vanderbilt a 40-17 halftime lead.

Miami (3-5) held the Commodores scoreless for nearly six minutes
in the first half, but managed just three points of its own.

In the second half, Vanderbilt took a 78-42 lead with nine
minutes left on a basket by Carla Thomas. Liz Sherwood and Thomas
finished with 14 points each and reserve Cherish Stringfield added
13. Dee Davis had her second 10-assist game of the season.
