South Dakota St. turns offensive rebounding edge into victory

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- Maria Boever had 23 points and seven rebounds to lead South Dakota State (No. 21 ESPN/USA Today, No. 24 AP) to an 82-69 win over Northern Iowa on Monday.

SDSU (12-1) turned 15 offensive rebounds into a 22-4 advantage in second-chance scoring. The Jackrabbits, who have won nine straight games, outrebounded the Panthers 36-24 and made seven 3-pointers.

Kristin Rotert had 16 points, Jennifer Warkenthien added 15 and Ketty Cornemann 12 for the Jackrabbits.

SDSU trailed 17-15 midway through the first half but went on a 10-0 run to take the lead for good at 25-17.

Kim Wypiszynski and K.K. Armstrong scored 18 points apiece for the Panthers (2-8), who have lost seven straight games.
