WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Kody Burke's 18 points helped lead No. 20 North Carolina State to a 62-54 victory over Wake Forest on Sunday.

The Wolf Pack opened the second with a 12-5 run, capped by Markeisha Gatling's jumper at 16:06 to go up 32-20.
Wake Forest (9-7, 0-3) stayed within striking distance over the next 14 minutes and trailed by just five points with 2:18 remaining on Millesa Calicott's 3-pointer.
It became a free throw contest leading up to the final buzzer and NC State was able to make 9 of 15 tries in the final two minutes to preserve the victory.
The Demon Deacons shot only 30 percent from the floor and Dearica Hamby led the way with 13 points.
Stephanie White, Lin Dunn and Carolyn Peck know what it takes to succeed in women's basketball. Their return to the college level should boost the SEC and is good for the game overall.
