(Editor's note: Texas Tech senior forward Plenette Pierson, a former Big 12 Freshman of the Year, will share a weekly diary with ESPN.com throughout the season.) Feb. 3, 2003
To start the Missouri game, we came out strong from the tipoff and got after the Tigers. We held them to 13 points in the first half. During this game, I set another career high in points for myself with 32. Jolee Ayers had a season high in rebounds with 11. Overall, this game was a great time for some of our younger players to get some quality minutes. I think they responded very well to the play of Missouri. I think this time that the young kids are getting to play will help us out in the long run. We ended up winning the game 84-50. At Kansas we knew that we had one problem that we would need to handle if we were going to have a good game -- we were going to need to create our own enthusiasm. I think we definitely did that. During this game I had 21 first-half points and finished with 29 for the game. This was a great homecoming game for one of our teammates, Miklannet Tennal, because she is from Kansas. Mik had an awesome game in front of her home crowd. She shot great from the 3-point line and made some great passes to set up others for shots. She ended up with nine points and she was 3-for-3 from behind the arc. We can only hope that she keeps up her great shooting because she can be a great asset to our team. We ended up beating Kansas 84-57. Now we have a week off until we play Iowa State on Sunday. For those who can't make it to the game, it will be televised on ESPN2. We hope for another win as Coach Sharp is getting close to her 500th career victory (she has 497 right now). Can't wait to update you guys next week. Take care!
